About Birchoryn

Built for the rhythm of independent work

Birchoryn started with a simple observation: freelance income doesn't arrive on a schedule, but most financial tools assume it does. We set out to build something that fits the way independent professionals actually get paid.

Birchoryn workspace where the forecasting platform is developed

A tool shaped by irregular income, not despite it

Birchoryn was founded by people who had spent years navigating the gap between invoices — watching bank balances swing from comfortable to tight and back again, often without much warning. Traditional budgeting apps were built around monthly salaries and fixed pay dates, and they simply didn't map onto the way contract and project-based work actually functions.

So we built a different kind of tool. One that treats variable income as the normal case, not the exception. Instead of asking freelancers to force their finances into someone else's template, Birchoryn looks at real payment patterns and helps people plan around them.

That starting point still shapes every decision we make about what to build next.

What guides the way we build

These principles inform the product decisions we make, from what we measure to what we deliberately leave out.

  • Clarity over complexity Financial forecasting should reduce anxiety, not add another dashboard to interpret. We prioritise plain, actionable output over dense data displays.
  • Built around real cash flow We design for how income actually arrives — irregular, project-based, and often delayed — rather than forcing it into a monthly-salary model.
  • Respect for user data The financial information people share with us is treated with care. We aim to be transparent about what is collected and why.
  • Steady, considered progress We would rather refine a feature until it's genuinely useful than ship something quickly and iterate in public.

The approach behind the platform

01

Start from the data, not assumptions

Every part of Birchoryn is grounded in observed payment behaviour rather than generic financial rules of thumb. We look at patterns first and build features to match them.

02

Keep the independent professional at the centre

Freelancers, consultants, and contractors have different pressures than salaried employees. Our roadmap is shaped by their specific concerns — gaps between projects, tax setting-aside, and uneven client payment terms.

03

Iterate deliberately

We release changes carefully and gather feedback from the people using the platform day to day, rather than chasing feature volume for its own sake.

A small, focused group

Birchoryn is built by a compact team with backgrounds spanning independent contracting, financial software, and data analysis. We work directly with the freelancers and consultants who use the platform, using their feedback to prioritise what gets built next.
